Germany – like Poland – is based on the Bologna education system, which means that the universities there offer a 3-year bachelor’s degree followed by a 2- to 4-semester master’s degree. As in Poland, there are several types of universities in Germany:

Universities - transfer mainly theoretical knowledge. The programmes have a strong emphasis on an academic approach to learning and there are many different types of thematic groups. Some universities specialise in specific fields, e. g. Technical University (TU) or Pedagogical University (PH). Choosing such a university will be great for those who want to fake an academic career.

Universities of Applied Sciences - in the case of these universities, a very strong emphasis is placed on practice - on the application of acquired knowledge and skills in future professional life.

Cost of study: Although the level of education in Germany is one of the best in the world, there are no tuition fees at public universities. The only fee is the semester fee, which ranges from 100€ to 350€. In addition, if you study at many universities, you can use public transport for free.

Cost of living: The cost of living in Germany is significantly lower than in most Western European countries. On average, students spend between 700€ and 850€ per month. The cost of renting in Munich, Hamburg or Stuttgart may be higher than in other cities, although by no means incomparable to cities such as Paris or London. On average, students spend about 200€-250€ per month on food in Germany. For students, public transport in many regions is free (otherwise it costs about 25-35€/month). Other expenses are in the range of 100€-250€/month depending on hobbies or habits.
